| 8. | What factors should I keep in mind while choosing electrical wiring for my building? |
Fires, short circuits and overloads in buildings are commonplace in India. These safety issues arise out of the fundamental error in the way electrical equipment is chosen and installed. The safety of a building is only as good as the quality of building wires that have been used in it.
1. Paramount’s building wires are made with stringent quality control measures, with the assurance of the correct size and quality of copper, as well as superior PVC. The usage of recycled and undersized copper as well as substandard PVC is commonplace in wire manufacturing in order to sell at low prices. Thus, insist on the quality of wires rather than going by price alone.
2. Purchasing good quality is not enough, ensure that you buy the correct size of wires specific to usage. Installing the correct size of wire reduces the chances of overloading and fires. Guideline sizing-
0.75 sqmm and 1.0 sqmm for earthing.
1.5 sqmm and 2.5 sqmm for lighting and light load appliances.
4.0 sqmm for heavy electrical load appliances, such as air conditioners, geysers, refrigerators, water pumps, etc.
6.0 sqmm for connections from Authorities.
3. Ensure that your electrician has the necessary qualifications and training, so that your wiring is installed in the correct and safest manner.

| 9. | What are disadvantages of wires with recycled or undersized copper? |
1. As a consumer you pay unfairly for an undersized product.
2. The wrong size/weight of copper in wiring leads to heating of the wires, resulting in short circuits and fires.
3. Impure copper increases energy bills.
Purer Copper = Better Conductivity of Copper = Reduced Loss of Electrical Current = SAVINGS IN YOUR ELECTRICITY BILLS
| 10. | What are the disadvantages of buying wires with regular or sub-standard PVC? |
Wires with sub-standard PVC are prone to heating up much more and much quicker than wires with good quality PVC.
1. This contributes to wiring faults, such as short circuits and fires.
2. Sub-standard PVC develops cracks, thus leaking electrical current and increasing your bills.
3. Excessive heating also causes the PVC to emit toxic, invisible fumes into the surrounding atmosphere which are harmful to you and your family.
4. Bad PVC tends to be rigid, which is harder to pull through conduits and is more difficult to inst all. Hardness of PVC also leads to cracking of wires.
| 11. | What are the advantages of Lead Free, Heat Resistant (LF HR) PVC over regular PVC? |
1. Heat Resistant PVC, as the name implies, does not heat up easily and is much safer. The disadvantages of heated PVC are described under Q10.
2. Lead is a toxic substance. It is also found in regular PVC, which on the heating up of the wire, emits invisible, toxic fumes into your home. Lead poisoning leads to many ailments and is especially harmful to children. Malformation, learning disabilities, kidney failure, abdominal pain, headaches, are all ill-effects of lead poisoning.
Paramount LF HR building wires are the safe wiring choice for safe living.
| 12. | What are the advantages of using LFHR Fire Retardant, Low Smoke (FR LS) wires? |
In case of a fire, wires with Fire Retardant PVC discourage the spreading of fire, thus saving precious lives. Low Smoke PVC generates lower smoke in case of fire which aids rescue operations and decreases the risk of choking on smoke. Paramount’s LFHR FRLS wires are the next level of safety in wiring. LFHR FRLS wires are especially suitable for large, congested as well as confined public spaces.
| 13. | What are the advantages of using LFHR Zero Halogen, Low Smoke (ZH LS) wires? |
Paramount’s LFHR ZHLS wires are the safest possible choice in wiring available in India today. Zero Halogen PVC compound minimizes the release of harmful, corrosive gases and smoke in the event of a fire, thus making breathing easier and visibility higher. LFHR ZHLS wires are also environmentally friendly. These are highly recommended in spaces where there are large public gatherings, confined spaces, industrial and commercial spaces.
