XLPE POWER CABLES Cross linked Polyethylene has been
recognized world wide as an ideal
dielectric for cable application since
its commercial application in the early
sixties.
XLPE insulated cables have better
mechanical, electrical and thermal
properties. These properties owe XLPE
cables an advantage over paper insulated
cables. This superior performance of
XLPE cables has led to the progressive
replacement of paper insulated and other
dielectric cables. Today, thanks to
advanced XLPE insulation, EHV cables are
also available.
Paramount XLPE
cables are manufactured and tested in
accordance with IS:7098 (Part II) and
other international standards.
Testing and Quality control Paramount Cables assures reliable
quality product through strict control
at raw material stage, on-line
inspection at all stages of manufacture
and also testes for all cable length at
finished stage.
As a rule, cables manufactured at
Paramount are subjected to raw material
inspection, on-line inspection,
sample testes, Routine Tests, Type
Tests, Acceptance Tests, Special Tests
as per
client's specifications are also
conducted. the actual test range depends
on the requirements of the relevant
standards and / or client's
stipulations.
Sustained Current rating on HV XLPE
Cables The current ratings of HV XLPE
cables given in the different tables are
based on the following assumptions:
i)
Maximum
conductor temperature for conditions
operation
90 deg C
ii)
Ambient air
temperature
40 deg C
iii)
Ground
temperature
30 deg C
iv)
Thermal
resistivity of soil
150 deg C cm/Watt
v)
Depth of
laying (to the highest point of the
cables laid direct in the ground)
90 cm
Method of Installation 1. Multi core cables
installed singly
2. Single core cables laid
in trefoil formation
